Your gown arrived late. Your date moved up. You lost track of time planning everything else. It happens to more brides than you would think, and it is not a reason to panic.
Here is what’s possible when time is short, and how to give your gown the best chance.
What counts as a rush?
At Mrs. P Stitches, any wedding less than two months away is a rush booking. Standard bridal alterations are best started two to three months before the date, so anything inside that window needs a compressed schedule.
What can be done on a short timeline?
More than most brides expect. Standard alterations are very often possible:
- taking in or letting out the bodice and sides
- hemming, including lace and multi-layer hems
- adding a bustle
- adjusting straps and bust cups
What needs more care is structural or design work: reshaping a silhouette, adding sleeves, or converting a zipper to a corset back. These may still be possible, depending on the gown and the time left. We’ll tell you plainly, before you commit.
What it costs
Rush work carries a surcharge on top of standard alterations, because your gown moves to the front of the schedule while every other bride’s date is still protected.
| Time before your wedding | Rush surcharge |
|---|---|
| 1–2 months | $300 |
| 2 weeks – 1 month | $450 |
| Under 2 weeks | $800 |
Standard bridal alterations range from $900 to $1,400. You receive a clear quote, including the surcharge, before any work begins.
Short timeline. Same standard.
A rush booking should never mean a rushed gown. You still get guided fittings, hand-finishing and the same craftsmanship. What changes is the calendar: fittings sit closer together, and we plan each one so nothing is wasted.
We accept select rush bookings only. That is a promise to you: we only say yes when we know we can deliver the standard you expect.
How to get an answer fast
- Photograph your gown: front, back, side and any detail you want changed.
- Note your wedding date and when you can come in for fittings.
- Send your rush request. Flag it as rush and we will review it as a priority.
- Bring your shoes and undergarments to your first fitting, so we fit the gown once and fit it right.
A note for brides with more time
If your wedding is three or more months away, you are not in rush territory, and you will save the surcharge. See our bridal alterations timeline to plan ahead.
